Hello, world

This is the first post here, but my third attempt at putting my thoughts out in public.

The first attempt started around 2008. It was mostly notes to self: engineering things I used often enough to need, but infrequently enough to forget the specifics. Once in a while a post turned out more popular than I expected which was kinda cool to see that it helps other people. Then I let the domain lapse, an online casino-thingie snatched it, and it was gone. 100% my fault. I might dig some of those old posts out of the Web Archive and bring them back here or maybe not, we'll see.

Every attempt since has run into the same question: "who the f needs this?" I think the honest answer is pretty self-centered: me 🤓. Some thoughts are best kept private. Others are better out there, as a perhaps slightly convoluted exploration of reality or just things I am puzzled about.

These days that is mostly AI (Although, I have been thinking about it since at least 2004); what engineering will look like in the near and distant future and how to use it to create things of real value and not just impressive demos. Plus random stuff with no relation to software at all like how the jump from organic molecules to living cells happened or what's the best way to cook odjahuri.

So this is what this is, nothing more. Cheers! 🍻
